Chequer plate floor in an industrial building

In an industrial building in Poland, a steel chequer plate floor, its skirtings and access plates were fully renovated in March 2021. The client wanted a decorative finish with an aged galvanised steel look, anti-slip and easy to clean, using an entirely water-based system.

An aesthetic as well as a technical challenge

Protecting the steel was not enough: the floor had to keep the appearance of galvanised metal weathered by time, while remaining safe for foot traffic and easy to maintain day to day.

The system applied

The system consists of three layers: RD-Monoguard anti-corrosion primer (RAL 7040), RD-Aquafinish topcoat (RAL 9006/9007) with an anti-slip additive, and finally RD-Hydrograff HP transparent varnish, which makes cleaning easier.

To achieve the desired effect, a custom shade was produced from the RAL 9007 formula with 50% additional pigment. This extra pigmentation is what gives the floor its distinctive aged galvanised steel look.

The result

The floor now has a uniform finish with a metallic sheen that perfectly follows the chequer plate relief. This project was carried out with our local partner Noxan.
